Restored Fellowship

I remember coming across a quote once written by a spiritual mentor I frequently followed, that went something along the lines of…

“If I had one single message to preach for the rest of my life, it would be His Presence”

                                                                                                            -Bread of Life Magazine

A major indicator of a healthy relationship is ongoing active communication.  You can’t claim you are in good terms with a spouse or a family member if you don’t talk, or intentionally avoid contact with that individual.  In any domestic dispute or misunderstanding, restored communication is the first indicator that reconciliation was made.

Likewise, time spent in intimacy, in the prayer closet with Jesus, reassures the individual that he or she is in good terms with him.  In a way, any personal doubts and insecurities we bring, no longer exist in the hearing of his voice.  This reassurance also clears our conscience from past failures that may stand as a hinderance for us.

You see, from the beginning God has created us for fellowship.  If you study the book of Genesis God had an appointed time when he came to the intimate place where he communed with Adam.   However, their blemished conscience had caused them to hide among the trees.  God's desire for intimacy has not changed, it was man's guilt that caused him to shy away from meeting with him.

And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.  (Gen 3:8 KJV)

Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” (vs.9)

From that point, God had been on a mission to restore that fellowship with man.  Specifically, working out a way to clear our blemished conscience.  So that like Adam, when we are aware of how short we fall, we won’t hide but run to him.  He never left the appointed intimate location.  Through the prophet Isaiah, he pleas to mankind…

Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. (Is. 1:18 NKJV)

In other words, come away and let us exchange some thoughts together, don’t worry or focus on how unworthy you may feel right now, when we’re done talking, you’ll realize that

“we're gooood!”  or “we friends” as my friend frequently likes to say Smiling face with no fill.
