"Good things"

We celebrated our daughter’s 10th birthday last week.  This year, she didn’t ask for a gift as she always does. Instead, she requested that I spend the entire day alone with her.

And second, take her out to all her favorite places to eat.

While her sisters were at school, we started with her favorite breakfast cafĂ©.  Shortly after, we went to Target for all of her favorite snacks.  We stopped at a smoothie shop for her favorite bobba drink.  And for lunch we had ramen, her all-time favorite meal.

All of her cravings, satisfied in one day.

Just as we have cravings that our body hungers for, we also have cravings that our spiritual man (spirit) hungers for (Ga. 5:17).

Only God can satisfy those desires.(Ps. 16:2)

Jesus once declared, in the same way that earthly parents satisfy the desires of their children, God too, wishes to satisfy the desires of the spiritual part of you …

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

The Bible often refers to these desires as “good things”.  They are God’s wisdom and truth.

While spending time alone with him, he satisfies our spiritual hunger and deposits “good things” (wisdom and truth) in us.

We become a storage box of God’s “good things”.  His wisdom and truth.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things…(Matt. 12:35 NKJV)

Not only does he satisfy our greatest spiritual desires, but the wisdom and truth we receive eventually become a message that satisfies the spiritual desires of those that hear us.

How beautiful are the feet of those proclaiming good news of good things!" (Ro. 10:15 BLB)

“In seeking… wisdom, one finds the happiness that the heart most deeply desires. This wisdom, of course, is the wisdom that God is continually offering us throughout the whole of the scriptures.”   -Faith Hub
