Immunotherapy
My sister and I share a mutual friend; all three of us had our babies around the same time. While my sister and I each had daughters, my friend had sons. Our kids grew up together and still remain friends.
When my friend’s son was born, he, like many babies, experienced some illnesses. During a virus outbreak, all the babies fell ill; however, her son became more and more sick. After numerous doctor visits and tests, she discovered that he was immunocompromised, meaning the virus had severely destroyed his ability to fight off infections and diseases.
Thankfully, modern medicine enables him to receive immunotherapy through antibody-rich blood infusions. These infusions help keep his body healthy and defend against minor illnesses and more serious infections. These regular infusions are vital for his health, as even a common cold could be life-threatening.
Spiritually, we are all impacted by a deadly virus called sin, which makes us unable to resist the enemy's attacks, and we become spiritually immunocompromised. We cannot defend ourselves against enemy attacks on our own. Just as my friend's son must regularly receive antibody-rich blood infusions, we, too, need consistent spiritual infusions to remain spiritually healthy and resist attacks. The Bible tells us that His Word serves as the antibody-rich blood we need. It's not just a book, but a powerful tool that equips us to stand firm in faith and resist. We can only stand firm and resist by consistently engaging with and listening to His Word.
‘Now brothers and sisters, let me remind you [once again] of the good news [of salvation] which I preached to you, which you welcomed and accepted and on which you stand [by faith].’ (1 Co.15:1)
