perfect unity
My sister and I took the girls school shopping just a few days ago. On our lengthy ride home, we had a serious, lingering debate on which white Nike sneaker was the absolute finest dress-up shoe. She was strongly convinced it was sneaker A, while I was strongly convinced it was sneaker B. Regardless of the many reasonings that were presented, our minds were set. And even though we are sisters, we couldn’t quite see eye to eye no matter how hard we tried.
And it’s totally okay, in insignificant matters such as ours.
However, sadly such is often the case in the body of Christ regarding spiritual matters. We become joined to the family of God, but do not realize that we have mind sets that need to change because they don't always align with Christ's.
God has given us a golden standard, his word (the Bible). The more we dwell on it, the more our many different mind sets will conform and change, becoming identical to the mind of Christ. Thus, creating perfect unity for the entire body.
There will be no need to debate and convince your brother or sister in Christ to think otherwise, their personal devotion to the word will unify their thoughts in perfect harmony.
And each man will no longer teach his neighbor and his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they will all know Me [through personal experience], from the least of them to the greatest,” says the LORD…(Jer.31:34 Am.)
All members of the body will naturally see eye to eye.
…with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye…(Is. 52:8 KJV)
This is exactly how the first New Testament Church operated.
Day after day they met in the temple [area] continuing with one mind, and breaking bread in various private homes. They were eating their meals together with joy and generous hearts,… (Ac.2:46 Am.)
They gathered daily in the temple where they mentally soaked in the scriptures. Their minds were transformed to think Christ-like. They become so unified in mind and faith that even their basic daily provisions such as food and shelter were commonly mutually shared.
