Biblical Principles in Action

Sometime last year, I read a book written by Hobby Lobby’s CEO, David Green, titled Leadership Not by the BookIn the book, David Green reveals some of the faith-based principles he acquired directly from the Bible, that have become the backbone to their company’s success.

What made his biblical business model most unique, is that it functions entirely contrary to contemporary and secular businesses models.

David tells of a group of Harvard NBA students that interned for Hobby LobbyThey were amazed by how much these principles went against everything they were taught in business school, yet strangely proved successful.

I too have discovered that the more I come to understand God’s biblical principles and truths, the more I realize how different they are from my natural choice of action

In other words, God’s strategies are often entirely opposite of what humanly and logically makes sense.  But they always benefit those that take the leap of faith and exercise them.

For instance, the simple principles of giving. Take a moment to study the following proverb...

Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. (Pr. 11:24 NLT)

How contrary to worldly and natural belief?

As you study God’s word and begin to apply it, remain prepared to act against your natural inclination. It will definitely encourage your faith to be put into action.

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths... It all sounds foolish to them...(1 Co. 2:14 NLT)
