Endless Treasures
Because my husband and I come from large families, many children are always around at gatherings. To keep them entertained, the parents often organize gift games and challenges, especially during the holidays. One popular game our younger children absolutely look forward to involves unwrapping small gifts, candy, and sometimes cash in multiple layers of gift paper or a giant cellophane wrap. While the music plays, each child takes turns unwrapping the many layers of wrapping. The more they unwrap, the more small gifts they acquire in their lap. Most of the time, the best gifts and most considerable cash amounts are wrapped towards the end of the layers.
Similarly, I've discovered that our relationship with God’s word is a journey of continuous discovery. The more I continue to understand and mentally unwrap His word, the more biblical Christian virtues are deposited into my heart and mind. The more knowledge I acquire, the more virtues I acquire. It's like a game of endless treasures. The deeper I dig, the more incredible treasures I find.
Peter writes, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him ... (2 Peter 1:3)
In other words, everything we need to live a godly Christian life is made available when we continuously acquire knowledge of him.
