Gradual Surrender

When we first opened our business, things were slow and steady. Operations were small and very manageable. But as time went on, the company began to grow. My husband was still managing all of its operations, but he started getting very busy. With more employees joining the team, there was an increasing demand for effort and work. While juggling many responsibilities, my husband was running around wearing many hats. There was only so much he could do as one person to allow the company to continue to grow. We reached a point where, in order for the business to continue growing, we had to hire a management company to help manage the many operations involved. Slowly, the management company began taking over one operation after another. From simple tasks such as scheduling to more complex tasks such as marketing and optimizing SEO, my husband had to embrace this transition and trust this management company to take over.  He had to surrender control, which is always easier said than done. Now, he simply follows their guidance and directives, recognizing this had to happen to see the company advance further.

Our spiritual journey, much like the business, also involves a gradual surrender of control. In a vision shown to the prophet Ezekiel, God beautifully portrayed this concept. As Ezekiel moves further into the river flowing from the temple of God, he finds himself sinking deeper. The water rises to the point where he no longer has control over it; instead, the river has control over him (Ezekiel 47:1-6).

Life is about much more than just running a business. Sometimes, we can only reach our full potential by letting go and trusting in something greater than ourselves. True spiritual growth comes from releasing all control and allowing a higher power to guide us toward a future that's beyond our own limited abilities.

He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. (John 3:30 NLT)
