Brainwashed
I have always had a passion for vintage items, but recently my sister-in-law introduced me to the world of antique silver. Since then, I've been on the lookout for unique pieces. The first few items I found were in very poor condition; the tarnish was so severe that I hesitated to buy them. But I later learned that this is simply the nature of silver; over time, it tarnishes due to environmental factors, causing it to lose its shine and appear dull, dirty, and worthless.
I learned that there is a special procedure for restoring silver to its original form. I carefully applied a polishing solution and then rinsed it off with water. With each application and rinse, more of the original silver was revealed, and its shine was restored. In the end, the pieces turned out beautifully, and I have been gradually adding to my collection.
Through scripture, I see a similar resemblance when it comes to our hearts and minds. The environment in which we live has a tendency to corrupt our thinking (1 Peter 1:4); it's simply in our nature. We lose our inner shine. However, there is a process and procedure that can help restore us to our original form, involving cleansing and renewal—a spiritual baptism of the heart and mind. I like to call it a brainwash. Our minds need to be renewed and immersed in God's word. This ongoing process restores us to our original intended form, allowing us to shine and reflect Christ as He is revealed in us.
I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed (John 1:31)
I will purify you the way metal is refined, and will remove all your impurity. (Is. 1:25)
