Travel Partner

I cherish and love my sisters and sisters-in-laws very much. Each of them is unique, and together we complement one another in different ways. One of my sisters has proven to be the best travel partner. I really dislike traveling without her; she is always prepared for the worst.

One night, while we were traveling overseas, my wisdom tooth suddenly flared up. Since we were at a private, secluded resort, there was no pharmacy in sight. I patiently waited for morning, confident that my sister would have everything I needed. Sure enough, she had anti-inflammatories with her. From hair tools to emergency sunburn creams, she has always been there to rescue me. I can’t recall ever needing to run to the store for something. At first glance, it seems like she travels light and never overpacks, but there is nothing you could possibly need that she doesn’t already have in her bag.

Like my sister, I am also very grateful for the people in my life who have always been there to support me spiritually. They have proven to be the best travel partners on my spiritual journey. They have served as my spiritual mentors and are always ready to offer the right words when I find myself in challenging situations. I can’t recall a time when I felt stuck and they didn’t come to my rescue. They didn’t have to rush to their Bibles to find the right answers for me. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or had difficulty making a decision, I knew they had a message that would bring me peace and guidance. It was as if the right words were always on the tip of their tongues. Over time, I learned that this was because of the time they spent in God’s Word, which provided them with a mental and spiritual emergency reserve they carried with them wherever they went.

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are instructed to know how to sustain the weary with a word. (Is. 50:4)

Like apples of gold in settings of silver, Is a word spoken at the proper time.  (Pr. 25:11)
