Soul Satisfied
Every time I’ve been pregnant, one of the biggest changes I’ve noticed is those unforgettable pregnancy cravings! Only a woman who’s been pregnant before will understand—there’s just something about having your heart set on a particular dish you absolutely need to have. And, of course, it’s usually something that nobody else in the house wants! You might cave to eat what everyone else wants, but while you’re eating that meal, your thoughts are still thinking of those cravings.
You feel full yet still not satisfied. Your stomach is full, but until that craving is fulfilled, you feel like you haven’t truly eaten.
My husband has always found it strange how persistent a pregnant woman can be, even insisting on having a second meal just to satisfy that craving.
I’ve come to realize that my soul has cravings too—it’s my spirit’s hunger and desire for spiritual nourishment. Just like my cravings during pregnancy, I may have absorbed a lot of information, but I don’t feel truly fulfilled until those spiritual cravings are satisfied. This process requires persistence; I continue to pray, read, reflect, and study until I reach a point where I genuinely feel that my soul’s cravings have been met.
The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul,... (Pr. 13:25)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. (Matt. 5:6)
