Life giving water
On a recent trip out of town, we decided to take the children out on an exertion to the Frost Science Museum. The girls had an amazing time exploring the many child-friendly, hands-on learning exabits the facility provides. Their favorite however was the planetarium show.
In the span of 40 minutes, we went on a virtual, 3-D rocket tour across all eight planets of the solar system. The anchor of the show provided a detailed narration of each planet and its essential make up.
The major distinction of planet earth and what essentially made life on earth possible, boiled down to the presence of liquid water. Everywhere liquid water flowed, life flourished.
There were other planets that possessed other forms of water. However, life wasn’t possible because it was dormant, mostly in frozen form. The surface of these planets where much like our deserts: colorless, dusty, and lifeless.
Now the bible tells us that studying creation is one of the ways we learn and attain a deeper knowledge of God.
For ever since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through His workmanship [all His creation, the wonderful things that He has made],…(Romans 1:20 Am)
Just as the other planets, our soul is desolate and lifeless, unless we nourish it with the spiritual living waters found in God.
He has made himself attainable to us by his word.
Christians that are ignorant of the word, are just as the planets with water in dormant form. Still lifeless.
Continuously immersing into the word, allows living waters to flow into the soul and sustain spiritual life.
Just as rain and snow descend from the skies and don’t go back until they’ve watered the earth, Doing their work of making things grow and blossom,..., So will the words that come out of my mouth.... (Is. 55:11 msg)
