On the Rock
We took the girls for a mountain hike recently. We were so concerned about our four-year-old. My husband and I anticipated we would probably be piggyback riding her most of the hike. She usually isn't up for much of a stroll. But she impressed us all when she hiked up the entire way up. Some of the paths were very rocky, and there were very steep areas. This is when she would wait for my husband to catch up and hold tight to my husband's hand. He would guide her through the firm, sloped rocks. However, we were not so concerned with our other daughter. She was very confident and didn't think she needed her father's support. She surprised us all when she took quite a tumble on the way back down.
There are times in our lives when the road gets rough and challenging. The only way through is to wait patiently on God and hold tight to his side. The safest place to be is seeking out his presence and drawing near to him.
Then the LORD said, "There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock." (Ex. 33:21)
