The Wardrobe
One thing that men rarely understand is a woman's ongoing mission of managing and renewing her wardrobe. Women typically keep a mental inventory of everything they own in there. Some of us take it very seriously; we take day trips, travel long distances, and spend hours in fitting rooms hunting for that one perfect outfit. Our shopping is never really over because we like having a rich variety of trendy and classic clothing items to choose from. According to Vogue, an adequate wardrobe consists of 74 garments and 20 outfits (Chan & Perez, 2022). I often wonder what my late grandmother would have to say about this, as she often shared stories of growing up in poverty with only two sets of clothes that were passed down to her.
Similarly, I maintain and enrich my mental storerooms of the word of God. The Bible refers to this as a renewal of the mind. This renewal process is never truly complete; I consistently invest time in refreshing my understanding to ensure that I always have an abundance of scriptures to dwell on. Unfortunately, many believers find themselves in spiritual poverty; they neglect to update and renew their spiritual reserves, relying only on a few scriptures they have held onto for years.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly… (Col. 3:16)
