Find Rest

My husband and I discovered Cape Cod shortly after we got married, and it immediately charmed us. Since then, we have been taking our kids there annually. They often share nostalgic memories from their trips when they were little, and they always request to return to Cape Cod above all the other places we’ve visited. The Cape is incredibly beautiful, with its New England charm and stunning coastal views. I find endless inspiration in its lovely landscapes and gardens. Summer is our busiest season so it’s the perfect little getaway to rest and recharge.

Each year, we make it a point to explore a new area that we haven't visited before. The scenic views and classic charm create wonderful memories for our family, and every time we return, we can’t help but rave about our trips to our friends and family. Over the years, we've taken so many of our friends and relatives along. We get so passionate about giving them tours of our favorite spots because the experience is simply too good to keep to ourselves.

I believe God made it part of our human nature to want to share the things we love and enjoy with others, inviting them to experience what we do.

I think that's exactly how King Asa of the Old Testament felt. He was a good king because he set his heart to seek the Lord. The Bible says...

No one was at war with him during those years, for the LORD gave him rest. (2 Chr. 14:6)

Asa sought the Lord, and the Lord granted him rest. However, Asa couldn't keep this blessing to himself; he wanted the people of his kingdom to experience this rest as well. To achieve this, he initiated numerous religious reforms in his country and encouraged the people to seek the Lord.

The Bible says…

They sought God eagerly, and he was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.  (2 Chr. 15:15)

First, he gave him rest; the second time, it says that he gave them rest.

Today, we find ourselves in a similar situation; we are all searching for rest for our souls. We desire peace and quiet instead of living in fear and anxiety. The only way to discover that rest is by seeking the Lord. When we continually abide in His presence, we will find the peace and rest that our souls desperately long for. Once we attain this rest, it becomes too good not to share with others. We grow passionate about helping others find that same rest for themselves.
